Supporting families through growth, stress, and transition.
Family therapy isn't about sitting in a circle and taking turns being blamed for things. It's not about the therapist deciding who's right. What it actually looks like is having a skilled, neutral person in the room who can help family members slow down, hear each other differently, and start to understand what's really driving the tension — not just the surface argument that keeps repeating.
Some families come in during an acute crisis. A teen who has been hospitalized. A relationship between a parent and child that has broken down completely. A family trying to hold together through something devastating. Others come in during quieter moments of disconnection - a growing distance that nobody has quite named yet, a communication pattern that's been making everyone miserable for years.
Family therapy at Bloomwell Counseling Co. is built around what your family actually needs. Some families work primarily on communication and conflict. Others use family sessions alongside a teen's individual therapy to help parents understand what their child is going through and how to support them without making things worse. Some parents come in for accountability around their own parenting values and goals - a structured space to examine their patterns and show up differently.
Whatever brings you in, the work is collaborative, honest, and paced to what the family can handle.

Therapeutic Approach
A room where everyone gets to be heard.
Much like in my approach to individual therapy, my work with families is grounded in DBT principles around communication, validation, and interpersonal effectiveness, and informed by a family systems lens that understands each person's behavior in the context of the relationships around them.
My approach is direct without being confrontational and we work together to create a space where difficult things can be said without the conversation falling apart. Families who have felt stuck in the same cycles often find that having a skilled third party in the room changes everything - not because the therapist has all the answers, but because the dynamic in the room shifts enough for something new to become possible.
Bloomwell Counseling Co. is an LGBTQ+ affirming and neurodiversity inclusive practice. Family therapy is available to structures and configurations of family.
